GREEN AND WHITE WALKATHON
My First Time Serving and Leading
I study at St. Joseph's College in Hong Kong. While my schoolmates and teachers are the best, the school's facilities, which date back to the 19th century, aren't. As a newbie in leading, I initiated a Walkathon to renovate the school.
Green and White Walkathon: Projects
I was president of our school's community service club in my senior form when the idea of replacing the century-old wooden students' desks and chairs in the classrooms came up at our first club meeting. My fellow schoolmates and I thought it was time to do away with the heavy, bulky furniture and replace them with something more streamlined and comfortable. Since there was a lack of government subsidy and the school was on a shoestring budget at the time, we took it upon ourselves to raise funds needed to buy new sets of desks and chairs. Although raising $150,000 seemed like a pipe dream, our sincerity and enthusiasm touched our principal, who gave his stamp of approval to go ahead with the fundraising project.
For the next four months, the 15 of us went all out to promote our cause and raise money. We would pull all-nighters, drawing banners, and designing eye-catching posters and had them plastered across all corridors. I painstakingly wrote a play performed in all classrooms and made a promotional video to garner much-needed support from our alumni. Some of us went out of our way to write personalized invitation cards to all our school students. In the end, we managed to raise more than $200,000! The amount was more than enough to purchase new ergonomic desks and chairs for the junior form classrooms.

We even filmed a few videos...
To move our projects to the next level and satisfy our inner desire to be cool actors and directors, we designed to publish a series of promotional videos. And of course, one of them is a rap video - I mean, who doesn't love those?
